At Mt Gambier Cancer Support Group Inc., we understand the challenges faced by those affected by cancer. We are here to provide crucial support to cancer clients and their families within the Limestone Coast.

How we help

We offer specialised support services designed to ease the burden on cancer clients and their families. Our focus is on practical and/or financial assistance, allowing you to concentrate on what matters most.

Family assistance

Our support extends to the entire family, recognising that cancer affects everyone close to the client. Contact is made by a client co-ordinator when a referral is made, sometimes a client is only seeking information, reassurance or a chat and a phone call suffices. In other cases, more involved needs might become evident, and a meeting is organised. All information is strictly confidential and identified needs are discussed between the client co-ordinators and the Group Chairperson, and the best ways to service the needs are chosen.

Local community focus

In the past the Mt Gambier Cancer Support Group Inc. has donated Surgical instruments to the Hospital, set up a Library in the Medical Ward and donated one of the first Chemotherapy chairs to the original Chemotherapy Unit.

In recent times a glass cabinet to display the wigs that are available for clients to select from for their use has been donated to the new unit. Other items as requested by the Oncology Units, such as thermometers that are willingly supplied. Assistance has also been given to Cancer Council Greenhill Lodge by refurbishing a bed-sitting room and equipment has been given to the Communal Kitchen. There are frequent communication and support between the Cancer Council, Greenhill & Flinders Lodges (Adelaide) and Rotary House accommodation (Warrnambool). So many of the Limestone Coast residents use these facilities.

Our services are available to cancer clients and their families residing in the Limestone Coast. We believe in providing comprehensive care to those navigating a cancer diagnosis.
